Free Fall: the making-of documentary for a space thriller shot on LED screens
Free Fall is out in the US on Apple TV (rent or buy), released by Epic Pictures on October 27, 2026. Nikita made its 27-minute making-of documentary alone: he directed it, filmed it on three cameras and edited it.

What we made
- The making-of documentary. 27 minutes on how a feature film was shot almost entirely in front of LED screens: the LED stage, the gimbal and wire work, the camera team, the lighting and the people who ran the screens, with interviews with the director, the director of photography and the LED team.
- Timelapses of the shoot days. Nikita also ran timelapse cameras over the stage. Most of that footage appears for the first time in the film above.
The making-of was made for the film's producers. It isn't part of the US release, and we didn't work on the feature itself.
The film above is narrated in Nikita's own words, read by an AI voice made from his. Music: "Falling Inward" by Yellen.
From the shoot
Free Fall is a space thriller shot almost entirely in front of LED screens. Now it's out in the US on Apple TV.
I made its making-of. It was just me, alone, running three cameras and building the story from nothing.
I'd filmed behind the scenes on many Welcome Point projects, and they recommended me to the producers.
The shooting days were long, with a lot of waiting between setups.
The lead actor didn't give interviews, so the story came from everyone else: the director, the camera team, the LED engineers.
It's the biggest project I've worked on, and I'm proud of how it turned out.
