Video Dept. AI: brief and book a video crew through your AI assistant
Since November 2, 2026, your AI assistant can work with VIDEO DEPT. directly. Here is what it can do, how to connect it, and what happens to what you send.
In short: Video Department (VIDEO DEPT.), a video production studio in Fort Lauderdale, launched Video Dept. AI on November 2, 2026. Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants that support MCP connectors can now plan a video with the studio, send Nikita a brief for a fixed quote and book a free call, with no account or sign-in. Video Department believes it is the first video production company in the United States to offer this. Video Dept. AI's newest part, an AI cloud for post-production, is in a closed beta for VIDEO DEPT. clients: their AI can find moments in the footage VIDEO DEPT. filmed for them and have videos made from it.
Video Dept. AI is an MCP server, the open standard AI assistants use to connect to outside services. Connect it once, and you can ask your assistant about a video with VIDEO DEPT. in plain words, in the chat you already use.
What can your AI assistant do with VIDEO DEPT.?
Through Video Dept. AI's public door, any AI assistant can work with VIDEO DEPT. for you, with no access code and no sign-in. Ask it in plain words:
| Ask your assistant to… | What happens |
|---|---|
| Learn about VIDEO DEPT. | It reads the studio's services, posted prices, typical timelines and past work. |
| Plan your video | It walks you through VIDEO DEPT.'s 10-question brief, the formats and a checklist of what to prepare. |
| Draft a script | It drafts the script with you from the studio's outline for your kind of video, using only facts you give. |
| Send the brief | It sends your brief to Nikita Marushkov, the founder, for a fixed quote. It's set up to show you the exact text and ask before sending. |
| Send your brand guidelines | It sends Nikita links to your brand book and logo files, plus your colors, fonts, logo rules and tone of voice. |
| Check on a brief | It tells you whether your brief is with Nikita, has a reply or has a fixed quote, and whether a call is booked. |
| Send files | It gives you a private upload page for footage, photos, logos, references or documents: up to 20 files and 20 GB. |
| Book a call | It finds Nikita's open times in your time zone and books a free 30-minute Google Meet call. Google Calendar emails you the invite. |
| Pay a deposit | For a fixed quote Nikita sent you, it gets the link to pay the 50% deposit through Stripe. |
Posted prices are not a quote. Every project gets its own fixed quote, and nothing is confirmed until Nikita replies personally. If it's a fit, a fixed quote follows the same business day.
Try asking:
- "Plan our conference video with VIDEO DEPT. and send Nikita the brief for a fixed quote."
- "What does VIDEO DEPT. charge for customer testimonial videos, and what similar work have they done?"
- "Draft a 60-second script for our brand film from VIDEO DEPT.'s outline."
- "Book a free 30-minute call with Nikita next week."
What do VIDEO DEPT. clients get?
VIDEO DEPT. clients get a private connection, with an access code from Nikita. Through it, their assistant can:
- see each video, its latest version, and whether it's approved or waiting for review;
- read the notes their team left on each version, and Nikita's replies;
- send Nikita a request, such as a photo from a video, a change, a file or a question;
- plan a new video with the 10-question brief and send it for a fixed quote.
Setup for clients is on the Video Dept. AI page. To get a code, email nikita@videodepartment.org.
Can your AI work with your own footage?
Yes, in a closed beta for VIDEO DEPT. clients, by invitation. Video Dept. AI can connect your company's VIDEO DEPT. footage library, so your AI can list it, find moments by what is said or what is on screen, read transcripts, and make stills, clips and short edits from it. VIDEO DEPT. loads your footage for you.
For bigger asks, like a 60-second recap, a set of vertical clips of the best quotes, a highlight of one speaker, or a motion video with titles, name lines, moving captions and your logo, it asks VIDEO DEPT.'s studio editor, an AI. First the editor sends a plan: the moments in order with a screen grab of each, the words said and the titles, on a private page and as a PDF. You pick a version or ask for changes, and then it makes the video. If you want the finished video right away, just say so and it skips the plan. A plan usually takes a few minutes, a finished video 10 to 20, a motion video a little longer.
Not quite right? Ask for changes: shorter or longer, other moments, a different order, bigger captions, another title or shape. The editor starts from the version you have and changes only what you ask.
Results come back as private links that work for 30 days. Everything is made from your real footage: no picture is generated or changed by AI, and no person is identified by face or voice. Your footage is encrypted with a key only VIDEO DEPT. holds and is never used to train AI. The details are in our privacy policy.
How do you connect Video Dept. AI?
Use the public door address. Paste it into your AI app, not a browser:
https://agents.videodepartment.org/mcp
- Claude: in Settings → Connectors, choose "Add custom connector", name it Video Dept. AI and paste the address. No sign-in is needed.
- ChatGPT: if your plan allows custom apps, add one with the same address and no authentication.
- Manus: in Connectors, choose Create, then "Add MCP by URL", name it Video Dept. AI and paste the address.
- Other AI apps that support remote MCP servers: use the same address.
Step-by-step setup is on the Video Dept. AI page. Developers can read the public documentation on GitHub.
What happens to what you send?
Your assistant sends VIDEO DEPT. only what you ask it to send: your name, email and company, a phone number if you give one, the brief, a script draft or brand guidelines, and the time of a call. Every brief and request reaches Nikita by email, and he replies personally.
- VIDEO DEPT. doesn't see your conversations with your AI app, and doesn't sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Files you send with an upload link go only to Nikita and are deleted from the upload storage 30 days after the link was made.
- Calls with VIDEO DEPT. are recorded and transcribed for our notes. Anyone who'd rather not can say so at the start.
The full details are in our privacy policy.
Why did VIDEO DEPT. build it?
"People no longer Google you. They ChatGPT you," says Nikita Marushkov, the founder of VIDEO DEPT. Video Dept. AI puts the studio where those questions are now asked, and keeps a person on the other end: every brief and request still goes to Nikita.
